Odyssey Day 28 - Sea to Shinning Sea

Walker to Brainerd, ND - 63 miles
Minnesota's state flower is the quite showy, Lady's Slipper orchid. Observed along the Paul Bunyan Trail today, this pink and white flower grows in bog area. Bloom is best late June-early July. Perfect timing for us.
Colonel Cobber, in Backus, MN is one of many wood-carved statues along today's route, The Paul Bunyan Trail is among one of the longest multi-use, rails-to-trails systems in the US.  The total paved length is currently 120 miles.
Today's objective... lake dodging!
Headwinds beat down most of the day but the wooded areas provided relief. Our environs have transitioned from wide open feilds to woods of MN. The trees characteristic of today's ride include: pine, spruce, fir, juniper, aspen, oak and paper birch. Flowers include daises, wild iris and fireweed.
