Odyssey Day 54 - Sea to Shinning Sea

Swanton to Newport, VT - 61 miles
Although signs suggest he might spot a moose, and that he definitely will run out of pavement, Oliver pedals onward... and upward!
A famous climb (in theory) near Jay Peak, between Richford and Troy. However, road construction made this dirt road a bit rough on the descent.

Odyssey Day 53 - Sea to Shinning Sea

A beautiful route into Montreal today... though not without it's twists and turns, bridge crossings and down narrow streets. Oh, and we can add a new Canadian province to our list as we enter Quebec

A fabulous ride through the 1000 islands of St. Lawrence Seaway, eastward to Montreal
A parkway that is a bicyclists dream... great surface, low traffic quiet and scenic!

Overcast skies stayed with us for about half the day making for pleasant riding through Bath, Kingston, and on to Gananoque.

Odyssey Day 48 - Sea to Shinning Sea

Port Hope to Picton, ON - 71 miles
Tom stops for lunch near Presqu'lle Provincial Park. Neat stacks of firewood, as well as many offerings of bagged wood for sale, were a common sight on today's route. 
Earlier in the day Tom prepares to 'be seen' on his gray, rainy-sky day with a flashing red light affixed to his helmet. 
The waterfront Trail meandered along the canadian shores of Lake Ontario. The relaxing ride included bike lanes, shoreline roads, vineyards and quaint towns like Wellington, Bloomfield and Picton.

Odyssey Day 44 - Sea to Shinning Sea

What a fabulous breakfast at the Parlour Inn in Stratford with fresh Moss Berry Farm Jam... so tasty! Fresh roses decorated the tables. 
Loved the help-yourself roadside cooler of pop. Choose your beverage, Pay on honor system. 
Monfort tapas menu. Locally produced cheeses, meats and greens. A fresh, delicious meal. Offerings change daily.

Grand Bend to Stratford, ON - 45 miles
Today we celebrated Beth's birthday all day with cake, candles, and party hats!
Yummy cakes from Jenn & Larry's Brittle 'n Shakes & Ice Cream Cakes... a Stratford local favorite.

Manistique to Mckinaw Island, MI - 89 miles
Rain threatened and headwinds beat down on us but we made it to Mackinaw Island ferry dock with plenty of time to spare! Shortly after getting off the bike the skies opened up. thus far we've been extremely fortunate that rain hasn't damped our riding days.
